Woke up to this this morning, and now it is #1 on my reading list. The author said that she's been asked multiple times if such a place exists. While I am not quite that bad (a statement with which some will heartily disagree), I can empathize.

A couple of weeks ago we watched two dogs, one of them a scarily intelligent and giant Weimaraner who figured out how to climb OVER our six-foot fence; yes OVER, I watched her do it, it was quite entertaining, actually. I think Lucy's had a bad influence on my dog, in that he's become more determined to get out; however, his escape plans are much more pragmatic and dog-like (read: more destructive) - he digs and chews the gate. I thought I'd built up the ground enough with paving stones that he couldn't get out, but today he was out when I came home and I discovered that he managed to MOVE some of the paving stones! How, I don't know, but he did. Fortunately, he does not wander (much); he's gone swimming and visited the Mendecks before, but he's pretty good. No idea how long he'd been out since I was at work for about three hours, but he was hanging out in front of the house. Last time, too, he laid down in the grass next to the chewed-up gate, as if to exhibit his work. A trip to Home Depot for some 2x4s appears to be in order.

Freaking dog. Too smart for his own good.
