Day 7 of the Sushi death watch: the fish, he is still alive. Yup, the fish that Becca claims that I killed is still swimming merrily around. Granted, he was in a pretty sorry state last Saturday after I changed the water and we really thought he was on his last legs, er, fins, but it could have just been that the temperature was off, he was a little overstressed by the ordeal, or maybe he was constipated; who knows. Anyway. Point is, he recovered. Now, her comments have devolved into "he's going to die sometime and it will be your fault". The fish could live 10 years and be entered into the Guinness Book of Records for longest-lived Betta, and I will still be responsible for it's death. Ain't that right, honey pie? ;)

Yesterday morning, with a lot of pomp and noise, Nick left for Uganda. Becca and I were enormously entertained Wednesday night as he was packing, going down his list of things needed. Nick, he ain't no boy scout. Never been camping, and probably the only times he's ever not slept in a bed were on cross-country how-many-coops-can-cram-into-a-hotel-room trips. He ended up borrowing a lot of things from me, including iodine tables for water, two carrabiners (had to explain to him what they were), a compass (which I doubt he knows how to use), my rolly suitcase, two pairs of zip-off pants (not sure if I should be upset or not that he can actually fit into them), candles, a suitcase lock and a kinetic batteryless flashlight. That's one way, I suppose, to reduce the amount of stuff that I have! Best of luck to him on his humanitarium crusade, hope he survives Uganda, and hope Uganda survives him.
