when good words go bad

I'm not sure why I have such a fascination with other languages. I don't motivate myself to study them, I'm afraid of making mistakes (which I know I shouldn't be) so I don't speak them even when I have the opportunity and the only reason that I've gone so far in Russian is because JSC offers classes. The class this morning, however, was a disaster; I don't know why I think that I'll ever understand the subtle intricacies of when to use what word in a foreign language, when I can't even do it in my own.
