Today Dr. Mike Brown of CalTech announced that a 10th planet, located within the Kuiper belt, has been found. There's still a lot of debate about what really constitutes a planet - this has been going on about Pluto, which is smaller than some of Jupiter's moons, for ages - so it'll be interesting to see how it plays out for this new object. Interesting for those of us who are certified space geeks, that is!Names have been submitted, but nothing decided upon. If it were up to me, I would name it for where it was discovered - Palomar Observatory in San Diego (which I've visited as it's close to my undergrad university, UCSD). Imagine - planet Palomar! Pretty cool!
